A Walk in the Park, Part One

Detective Comics #751
December 2000
The Mayor wants Commissioner Gordon to get Poison Ivy out of Robinson Park by any means necessary. He needs the political plus points of reclaiming the park for Gothamites and of 'rescuing' the children who are in there with her. Ivy herself is very scared by this development, as are the children, there, it would appear, from choice. Meanwhile, Lucius Fox hires Miss Sasha Bordeaux to be Bruce Wayne's new personal bodyguard, a proposition that Wayne strongly objects to. Lucius forces him to accept the decision by threatening to resign over the issue. The Mayor, meanwhile forces Gordon to agree to spray Robinson Park with a powerful herbicide if Poison Ivy is not removed by dawn.
Giving his bodyguard the slip, Wayne becomes Batman and joins his friend Gordon at the Park. He is worried that the herbicide will more than likely kill Ivy outright, and Gordon realises it could do untold damage to the children. Knowing that he only has one night to do anything about the situation, Batman goes into Robinson Park while Gordon calls in the Child Protection Service.
