Batman and Robin survive the Batmobile's unexpected dive into the river and resume their pursuit of Allergent, unaware that Poison Ivy is also pursuing him. At the same time, Sarah Gordon, having been replaced as Commissioner by Andrew Howe, accepts Marion Grange's offer of a new job. Posion Ivy is the first to catch up with Allergent, but Batman and Robin arrive on the scene early enough to prevent her killing him. While Robin ensures that Allergent's defoliant chemicals cause no harm and Batman fights Poison Ivy, Allergent himself is carried off by a third party. And Andrew Howe realises how much he's going to hate being in charge of the police department.
